What the candidates are reading

Published by Peter under Daily Life

This jumped up on google.com a bit ago…a link to what Barack Obama and John McCain are reading. I wasn’t surprised by their lists.

Barack:

McCain:

To me, DailyKOS is like DailyPOS and Huffington Post is just plain garbage. I won’t even link to them.

I was glad to see that McCain read The Drudge Report, FoxNews, and JibJab!

Your vs You’re

Published by Peter under Comedy, Daily Life

I can’t believe this. I’m having an adult (at least I think it’s an educated adult I’m talking to) conversation with my friend from high school. I’ll leave his name out to save him embarrassment.

My friend:

I’ll take it off your bill! Your in BYATCH!!!

Me:

And it’s “you’re” in.

My friend:

Nope, what country did you grow up in?

Me:

Are you retarded? When you say “your in”, that means my “in” is ???

When I say “you’re in”, I am saying “you are in”.

Where did you go to college? Oh right…. Geeeez.

My friend:

I believe you are the retarded one. You should learn to speak English like the rest of the country!

Benjamin and I are famous!!!

Published by Peter under Benjamin, Daily Life

I’ve been meaning to post this on my blog, but had forgotten to do so as I emailed it out to a handful of friends.

Here is the story:

Someone who works at a University in Eastern Washington was reading the CNN/Money article about the top 100 places to live in 2008.

He went here: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2008/snapshots/PL2672818.html and saw my picture and remembered meeting me and remembered that I worked at WSU. He sent an email to the general financial aid e-mail address asking if anyone knew who the man in the picture was.

I love Firefox

Published by Peter under Computers, Daily Life, Technology

Good to see that the folks at Mozilla have made great strides to make Firefox a fantastic browser when it comes to memory management. It used to be that Firefox was a nasty memory pig.

Firefox 3 is Out, and here’s a great guide about it.

Firefox 3: Power User’s Guide to Firefox 3

It seems that lifehacker.com puts out some great information. I ran across this on my iGoogle.com page a few minutes ago. I’ve been using Firefox 3 for quite some time now (as a supplement to my normal Firefox 2, Safari, and Camino browsing habits). As the releases neared release, they kept getting more stable. Now that I’ve had it installed for a few hours, I have to say I’m pretty happy about it.

I’ve also installed Flock 2 Beta 1… a great browser based on Firefox 3 if you’re heavily into social websites and sharing your media (like photos with Flickr, for instance).
