Showing Golf and getting the keys!!!

Published by Peter under Daily Life

Golf GTI:
Showed a guy my car last night. He bent my fucking rim… it was already bent, but this bend that happened caused my tire to have a slow leak. Almost went flat this morning. Am I ever going to sell my fucking car?

House:
We get the keys in 30 minutes! We can’t wait!!! It’s gonna be an ultra fun and ultra busy weekend! We have a baseball game to go to, we have other stuff going on!! Yippee!

Work:
I have only been in my location (cube) at work for about 4 weeks or so. Boom, we are moving tomorrow. So every month, I get a new location. This new cube is smaller, and the cube walls are only half-height…which kind of sucks. What can you do? 2 months as a contractor down, 4 to go!

GOODNIGHT!

Milan Dragstrip - Deutsch vs. Deutsch

Published by Peter under Cars

Milan race day came and went!!!:
It was awesome!!!

All I can say is that I learned a few things about launching and reaction times, and I learned that low profile tires aren’t that great for drag racing. I learned that a Corvette Z06 is fucking awesome! There was a guy there with his, it only had 3,000 miles, and he ran 12.652 for his best run of the day…against me! It was thrilling to see him do so well!

Here’s a picture of my 13 runs (data).

Can’t wait to hit the strip, working out, bent wheels

Published by Peter under Cars

Drag Race day at Milan:
I am so excited!!! The day is finally here. Dan’s friend from work is in some Porsche club and is part of an organized test and tune event at Milan Dragway today. Of course, the invitation was extended to all sorts of people. Dan and I will finally have a chance to run our 2.8l powerplants against each other. He has a 1998 Audi A4 and I have a 1998 VW Golf GTI VR6 (that I’m trying to sell!). We offered the invitation to Josh, as I wanted to race his Focus SVT, but he couldn’t commit to coming. No worries. Castellano is going to make it, though, as a spectator. Oh yeah, Norman couldn’t make it, either, as he has family commitments. Again, no worries!

Working out w/ Demo and Co.:
I decided that I would try and work out with Demo, Ike, and Jason at the Powerhouse Gym on 10 and Telegraph. Yesterday, we did back, after doing 30 minutes of cardio. Ike and I ran, Demo and Jason did the stairclimber. Tomorrow, we are meeting up to do arms! I am very excited. I can’t even beging to explain what a positive difference it is to work out with partners. HUGE DIFFERENCE. You get those last few reps each set, and you also get that mental and social “push” from your friends. I might even consider continuing to work out there either during marathon training, which starts June 3, or after it’s all done and my gym membership at World’s Gym in Rochest is up. Kind of silly to pay for two memberships. I’m sure I could find a way to get out of my contract at World’s, especially because I work 25 miles or more away from the gym.

Bent wheels:
I hate Michigan roads… it’s halfway to Spring, and the roads suck…the winter snow and ice took a toll on the roads. There are potholes EVERYWHERE. I feel and here that loud thud at least once per day. I am so sick of the roads that if I decided to keep my car, I’d probably put the stock 15″ wheels back on the car and get new tires (as I don’t have 15″ tires). I’d get my 17s straightened out and I’d sell them. Damn roads!

Office 2003 Rocks!

Published by Peter under Computers

Outlook 2003 Beta 2:
As usual, I have the luxury of getting software a little bit ahead of its release-date. Thanks to the newsgroups, I’m trying out a Beta 2 version of Office 2003 Professional Beta 2. So far, I’ve been using Outlook 2003, which is fantastic… I have found one bug so far, too! First, the app. They have a built-in Junk Mail filter now, which can be turned on and off and tweaked, like all other spam-eating software apps out there. The view has been made a little different, having the default view of messages arranged in a tall column in the center, and having the message window in the large window pane on the right side. The far left, like usual is either your folder list or your Outlook Bar (which has been improved).

Spam Filter:
The spam filter in Outlook 2003 is awesome… I now have the luxury of having an “almost clean” inbox. The SpamAssassin blocked emails from our server are almost ALL making it into the Junk Mail folder on their own. I’ve since set up a filter to take the messages that SpamAssassin tags as spam to get thrown into the Junk Mail folder, as well. Stay tuned for some more comments on Office 2003 Professional.

Excel 2003:
Small note on Excel. It has a research feature, as does Word. It opens up a narrow column on the right side, like Office XP had for various things, and I search for a mortgage calculator. It took me to a site that had all sorts of little tools I could download. I chose one, and within 2 seconds, I had a full-blown mortagage calculator/amortization table within Excel! MS has their shit together!

Johnny and Jacqui get married

Published by Peter under Daily Life, Family

Johnny and Jacqui’s wedding:
We had a great time last night at the wedding. We got to the Royalty House at about 3:05PM. The wedding was set to start at 4:00PM, up in the loft area that Dino and I used to terrorize at all the Greek weddings we used to go to when we were young. Seating was a little bit limited, so a few of us stood in the back. I’d say we had the best “seats” in the house. I took all sorts of pictures of the pre-wedding and post-wedding ceremony which can be found, as always, at http://photos.filias.com!

Mr. Gordon:
One of my favorite parts about going to weddings in the Dutkiewicz family is the chance to see Mr. Gordon, Mike. He’s one of the best/coolest teachers we had at Fuhrmann Junior High School and Warren Senior High School. He was one of those teachers that served as a “counselor” to students, even though he wasn’t one. He was always “in the know” of what was going on, who was cool, who was a creep, and everything else that mattered the most to us when we were in our young adult years! Thanks, Mr. Gordon! Mr. Gordon even says he enjoys seeing me at these events. Heck, I didn’t even think about the chance that I’d see him and his wife, Kayla, last night…so when I saw him, I was ecstatic! By the end of the night, we were BSing in the lobby and sharing a stogy! Good times, that’s for sure!

Lazy Sunday:
I think we are going to forfeit going to the gym, which has been forfeited since Wednesday for the both of us. I was supposed to go to the gym on Friday to do “boulders” as Demo calls them (shoulders), but didn’t, due to hanging out with Alex and Rae the night before. I had a few too many Heineken’s, which caused me to have an alcohol headache in the morning. Sadly, if I’d have waited about :45 minutes, I’d have been able to hit the gym, and make it to work a little bit later than normal, say, 9:00AM. Oh well. Saturday was supposed to be arms, and that didn’t happen either, due to helping dad till his garden, getting the BroilerMaster BBQ from Michelle’s friend Ray for $80 (great deal), and doing the whole wedding thing. So, why spoil (not really) Sunday with spending 2 hours at the gym when we can go gallivanting around town looking for and buying things for our house, which we move into 11 days, yes, count ‘em, 11 days!! Yippee!!!

May 29-31:
The “moving party” has grown for May 31 from being just Michelle, me, David Duck, and Jon to also including Dino and Danielle, and probably Gina!!! It’s going to be a blast! Me, Michelle, and Taco Tommy are going to do a lot of the small moving on May 30. We’ve decided that I’ll take that day off…why not? So I lose a day of pay….beh! Who cares?
